Plain Ol' Fireplace

The fireplace in the living room is made of
white stone that was hand chiseled in 1930
when our house was built.

It matches the stone that covers the entire outside of the house.

It's one of my favorite things about
the house.

I keep the black wrought iron candle holder
there most of the year......with the tall
shabby chic candlestick and the large mule shoe
on the sides.  There's also a barbed wire cross in the mix.

As seasonal items come and go during the year these
items sometimes get shuffled around a bit.

With my fingers crossed for some cooler weather, I
decided to spruce up the fireplace a bit and add some
fall touches.

Fall is on it's way, isn't it, Glitterinas?!

Please, please, be shaking your heads yes!

These little, short scarecrows are a good starting point.....

.....they just fit right in!  Their denim overalls and cute smiles
are a happy addition, don't you think?

I love using this old frame that I saved from
the deep recesses of Papaw Jack's barn......

......and remembering of Papaw Jack always makes me smile!

I added one more scarecrow to the mix.....

.......he's a happy fellow, too!

Against that dark background my wire strand
of white metal stars should show up nicely.

Let's see how they look.

What do you think, Glitterinas?

I love bittersweet vine, but it does not grow
here.

I read about people tearing it out of their yards
because it's crazy invasive and just takes over.....well,
there's some room down by the barn where I would welcome a
vine or two......you know, just to have some to use in the fall.

Oh well, that's not going to happen, so.....I just bought some
little wired berries to use.

I think I like this frame and the other
touches here in the fireplace.....
how do you think it looks, Glitterinas?

I found a cute string of lantern lights at
Target (marked down and marked down, my favorite
find of the day) that I thought would
add a fun touch to the fireplace, too!

The string was plenty long with enough lanterns to go all the way
across the fireplace.....yay!

Aren't these lanterns pretty?

These lanterns hang just above a burlap banner ......

......that I made several years ago.

I like the neutrals this time of year as I
transition into fall decor.

The vintage chair that is holding court next to the
fireplace got a touch of fall, too......

......now everyone is included in this
sprucing up project!

Plain ol' fireplace no more.....

now it's a lovely focal point in the room!

It will be getting so much attention that the dining room table
just might get jealous!

Oh no,
if the dining room table gets jealous, it could complain
to the kitchen island.....

good grief.....I better get
busy deciding how I'm going to decorate the rest of
the house for fall.....

....before I have a full fledged revolt on my hands!

Gotta run, Glitterinas.......I have some planning to do!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Please leave me a note so I'll know you were here.

I enjoy reading each and every comment you are
kind enough to leave!

Blessed beyond belief,
Tammy
