Some Halloween cuteness.....

Hello Glitterinas!

I've got some more Halloween cuteness up my sleeve.....

These little seasonal hanging decorations are knock offs of a fun, little sign I saw in a trendy shop!  It was so cute, but a little pricey.

I began my hunt for the graphics I wanted to use at "The Graphics Fairy".....a wonderful website with TONS of great graphics.....if you've never visited this fabulous site you really should take some time and browse around.....

Just as soon as you finish enjoying the cuteness here at Pink Glitter, of course!

I found exactly what I wanted......some cute kiddos dressed up for Halloween (and one of a little guy wearing a grumpy face instead of a costume) and some rather stern looking ladies.......I added witchy poo hats to the stern ladies, printed them, and cut them all out with pinking shears.

I mounted each picture on it's own piece of thin, black or orange craft foam.

Added a little banner with a saying and a ribbon hanger to each......

I think these are so funny!  The grumpy, little guy just might be my favorite......

A Halloween Bouquet

Hello Glitterinas!

I hope you are enjoying October....it's kinda crazy that it's already here, isn't it?

Let's jump right into another fun Halloween decoration!

A paper bouquet......there's no worrying about these flowers wilting or dropping their petals.

I started by searching online for some free vintage Halloween pictures.  There are so many to choose from......I found some I liked, downloaded, printed, and cut them out.

Let's make the rosettes.  I chose some paper from my stash......I really like the polka dot paper!

These rosettes are so simple to make.  

Did you make paper fans when you were young?  

That same back and forth folding is the simple start for these little cuties......the width of the paper strips  will determine how large your rosettes are......I used two and a half inch wide strips.

Glue the ends of two folded strips together to make a circle.....I used Elmer's school glue......press the center of the folded circle down and glue......I used hot glue.  In this picture, you can see the dot of hot glue in the center of the rosettes.

The larger rosettes began with two and a half inch strips of paper.....the smaller rosette began with one inch strips which were leftovers which I didn't want to waste!  The smaller the strips the harder it is to work with, though!

I played around with the vintage images to decide which one looked best on each rosette.....then glued an image on each one.  I used striped, paper straws for the stems......again, a dot of hot glue did the trick!

These are the straws I used.....

I decided to put my Halloween bouquet in a mercury glass vase that I've had for years.....I crumpled up all the paper trimming scraps from the last few projects, filled the vase and arranged my bouquet!

I put some white krinkle filler on top of the crumpled paper, tied some ribbon around the vase and TAH DAH!

Cute!

A cute Halloween bouquet for us to enjoy with our meals.

I think a Halloween bouquet would be cute on a table in your house, too!

State Fair of Texas!

Hello Glitterinas!

My family and I spent a crazy, full weekend in Dallas at the State Fair of Texas!

Saturday dawned gray and muggy....then proceeded to rain on us most of the day.  Since we are in the middle of a terrible drought I was thankful for every drop of rain the Lord sent us!  I was also thankful I had packed an umbrella!

Sunday was a beautiful, blue sky, sunny, bird chirping, loving life kind of day!

Let me share some of the fun we had and some of the wonderful things that make up the best state fair in the world!

First, there were the grounds.....the grounds keepers did an amazing job......there were huge masses of flowers and plants everywhere!

Daughter Holly and oldest grand~darling liked these huge planters of pink bouganvilla!

I would love to have this little garden vignette for my backyard......

Daughter Ashley and middle grand~darling posed for me in front of another colorful planter.....this one was outside a huge greenhouse!

This little lovely was at a stroller parking area......such a pretty touch of fall!

The main reason I attended the fair was to watch all three grands show their pigs.  Show day is always a very exciting time.....

Here are our three precious grand~darlings!

Being in the show ring with an animal takes lots of concentration.....they practice walking their pigs at home, but you just never know what the pigs will do when they come into a ring with pigs they do not know!  

Both our daughters showed (pigs, steers and goats) while they were growing up! Raising and showing animals is lots of hard work and LOTS of fun!  I don't think they would take anything for all their wonderful, busy, crazy show memories!

Here they go......into the ring with Pinky Pie, Cookie and Dory!

The youngest grand's pig hurt her foot and could not show......he was upset but quickly found other fun things to occupy his time.....like posing for Gigi with his new show stick!  He also had new jeans, boots, and hat but the best new thing was a belt just like Pop's!

Ribbons are fun to get....a little token of a job well done!  These will surely find a special place of honor in the hall of fame at home!

There was time to wander around the fair grounds and enjoy all kinds of entertainment.  Live bands, rides, crazy good food, new cars, giveaways, midway games, a petting zoo, people watching and so much more all competed for the attention of fair go-ers.

Watching Farmer Jack carve a 1400 pound pumpkin was not to be missed!  He doesn't use any preservatives on his creations.....he said they'll last three or four days!

I test drove several new cars.....this bad boy was one of them....

There are icons of the fair, too ..... each is a "must see" if you attend the State Fair of Texas!

The Texas Star.....this can be seen from almost anywhere in Dallas!

The Cotton Bowl.....always watching over the hustle and bustle of the fair.....

There are foods you absolutely must try, too.....

Keeping everyone safe is probably much more involved than any of us will ever know.....we took a moment to have a chat with and thank some of the officers.

We had so much fun this year during our annual trip to the State Fair of Texas!  

Our days were busy, busy, busy and so full of activities.......we went and went until we were just pooped out.....

The Last of the Pretty Petals!

Hello Glitterinas!

As October marches on, the flowers I enjoyed all summer are beginning to fade out.....

I want to share the last of the pretty petals in our yard with you!

Aren't they lovely?  When it gets colder and they are all gone, I am really going to miss the pretty color they add to the backyard.  

The zinnias last a long time when I cut them and bring them inside to enjoy!

We bought an old iron bed and made a flower "bed" this past spring......it held flowers, strawberries, some lavender, and some veggies.  

Everyone who saw it thought it was a fun addition to the yard!

The headboard supported our "glorious tangle" of morning glories.......I love their happy blooms.....they make me smile every morning!

Here's a strange plant (it's a form of cactus) and its flower.....looks like something from outer space to me.....the flower is very stinky, but the flies love it.

Our little garden girl is watching over the yard......she will miss the flowers, too, I bet!
