An Empty Shepherd's Hook

Hello, Glitterinas!

I need to find or make something to hang
on this empty shepherd's hook.

Even Anne, one of my chickens, is
wondering why I don't have something hanging there.

I tried a small Easter sign, but it wasn't in
proportion to the size of the hook.

I was sitting on the swing.....and then, there it was.....

.....an old, rusty roaster pan!

Isn't it perfect??!!

Did you just snort and roll your eyes?

That's OK....

My family does it all the time.

I have lots of crazy ideas.....many are definitely snort and
eye roll worthy!

Let's see what happens after I take it into the
craft room and make a few additions to it.....

                                                  hot glue....

ribbon.....

                                                 paper.....

How exciting!

Hmmmmm, let's see what I can do.....

......a banner is always cheerful.....
so let's have two.

"Welcome" is a nice greeting....
let's add that, too.

I like a nice bow.....

Now, some tricky hot glue magic to make
this little sign stand up ....

....hey, it worked!

Cover the hot glue glob with some moss....
.....and add some ribbons to the lower handle.

Oooooh, I think I like it!

Let's go back outside to that sad, empty
shepherd's hook.

Hang up the perfect old, rusty,
roaster pan.....

......and watch the ribbons dance in the breeze!

Dig around in your stash and see what you
can find that would be

"perfect"

for that spot in your yard that needs a little something!

I hope this inspires you to rescue that interesting old piece
and make it into something that will add just
the perfect touch to a space
that needs a little something!

Craft on, Glitterinas!

Share your projects with me......I can't
wait to see them!

Until next time,
Tammy

Absolutely Amazing Floral Designs

Oh my goodness Glitterinas,
do I have a treat for you!

I was lucky enough to be invited to go to a
floral design program at
Southern Floral Company
in Austin.

Walking into Southern Floral you are
greeted with vignettes like this....

The presenter we were looking
forward to seeing was
Els Teunissen.
She has worked all over the world
for 40 years as a cherished
floral designer.

Els has designed for parties, receptions,
corporate functions and even
grand occasions for the
Queen and King of Holland!

Before Els was known all over the
floral world, she was a
foreign exchange student from Holland.

Her first trip to the United States
took her to Thrall, Texas to the home
of Shirley and Jack Winterrowd,
my husband's home!

My husband, Papaw Jack and I all
trekked to Southern Floral
last weekend to watch this remarkably
gifted lady create beautiful floral designs.

Here is the woman of the hour with
Sweet Husband and Papaw Jack!

I think Els must have gone through the line
more than once when the Lord was
passing out talent!

This lady is amazingly creative
and funny
and knowledgeable
and personable
and warm
all rolled into one
fabulous person!

You can see that Sweet Husband and Papaw are
holding books......well, Els wrote a book, too!

Such loveliness.....

Let's get to the flowers.....

oh, Glitterinas,
prepare yourselves for some
majorly gorgeous
floral designs!

Yes, these are all real!

The afternoon was one beautiful arrangement
after another.....

Els shared some of her memories of Texas as
she designed.

She remembers asking if Texas really had snakes.

Shirley told her absolutely yes, and showed Els
a little wooden box with rattlesnake rattles in it!

Eeeeek!

Els just kept creating and entertaining us
 for hours....

.....each time I looked over at Papaw he had a
smile on his face.

Shirley has gone to Heaven with her memories
of Els, but Papaw has his own of a
hard-working young lady who
spent a couple of months in Texas
and then went on to become a
global traveller.

Here are some more drool worthy
floral designs.....

Look at this container.....

.....lovely!

This piece was about six feet long!
It was so striking!

This pink arrangement was crazy gorgeous!
I seriously considered snatching it and running for the
door.....but I didn't think my chances of a clean get away
were very good!

At the very end of her presentation, Els
made a bouquet of tulips and presented them to
Papaw!

It was a very touching moment with applause
and a couple of tears!

What stunning colors!

Papaw was sweet enough to share this
lovely bouquet with me....

.....he has a mischievous cat who I think
he was a bit concerned about.

These tulips remind me of the lovely and talented
lady I was lucky enough to meet.

Els, here's to 40 more years of
gorgeous and remarkable floral design!
You have some devoted fans here in Texas!

Until next time, Glitterinas,
Tammy

Easter Table.....A Re-Visit

Welcome, Glitterinas.....
to my Easter table......again!

When last we saw it,
it looked like this.

Not bad......but then not really good, either.

It was flat....it needed something with
a little height.

I decided to use a basket with a
pretty pink bow on it for the
hand-painted eggs.

I also wanted to take the candles out of
the mercury glass votives and replace them
with Easter grass and some
small wooden eggs.

I have three metal eggs that I
have had since I was
just a little
Easter egg hunter......

I thought they might sit in
the lovely celery dish with the
pink flowers.

Ahh, pretty.....

I'm so sentimental.

There you have it, Glitterinas,
my new and improved
Easter table!

What do you think?

Let me know what you think!

I am always so glad when you take time
to visit me here at Pink Glitter.

Thank you!

I really do appreciate your time.
If you are having some of the crazy Spring weather,
please stay safe, warm and dry!

Hugs and Easter eggs,
Tammy

An Easter Table

Spring is almost here, Glitterinas!

I have waited to organize my Easter table
because my gorgeous lilies from my
sweet Valentine were still blooming!

These lilies were so pretty and their
sweet scent went all through the house.

When the blooms were sadly all spent, I knew
it was time to get my dining room table
ready for Easter.

Our big family group will all be gathering at our home this year
for Easter.
What could be better than gathering to celebrate the
resurrection of our Savior?

I have a table cloth that is solid
decorated egg print.  I have used it for
25 years.....hmmmm,
maybe I could use it as a runner this year.....

.......I got it out with a pastel pink table cloth.

Let's get these on the table and see how they look together.

I added a gauzy piece of brighter pink
fabric for an extra layer of color.

Then, I folded the egg print cloth into a runner sized
addition for the table.
(May I say that I now have the skills it takes
to wrestle a bear?!)
Goodness......

Papaw Jack brings me boxes of interesting
things.....

......would you like to guess what was in the last box
he brought me?

Dishes?  nope

Silverware?  nope

Photographs?  nope

The box contained two very old aprons
and a stack of doilies.

The doilies were strange colors....

brown,

darker brown,

muddy brown,

beige,

and darker beige.

Hmmmmm, smile and say
"Thank you, Papaw!"

While in my mind I was thinking
"I wonder what color these really are?"

Well, after several soaking,
scrubbing, and rinsing sessions.....

......here's what I ended up with!

Needless to say I was very happy.

(The two aprons washed nicely, too!)

These doilies belonged to Papaw's mother.
They were probably made for her by one of her
many friends who crocheted.

I am so glad she kept them all those years......and then
packed them away for me to have all these years later!

After I saw the pretty colors that were underneath
all that brown
brown,
and brown
 I knew I'd
probably use some of these doilies on
my Easter table.

I picked these.....

My grandmother crocheted, so I have been
a lover of doilies for
a VERY long time,
but I have never seen
this large star-like pointed pattern.

Next, I decided to use some of my
mercury glass votives.

On the large star doily,
I arranged my hand-painted eggs in
a long celery dish.

The eggs are perched on a piece of lace and
some pink pearls.

Tah-dah!

This is how the table looked for about a week.....

......and then I decided the table needed just
a little more height.

Next time, I'll share the tweaks I made to add a
little more height to this table scape!

Thank you so much for reading through
this Pink Glitter post.  I am so glad
you stopped by.....

Do you decorate your table for Easter?

What do you like to use?

I'd love for you to share......

Until next time, Glitterinas.....

Hugs and doilies,
Tammy
