My New Dishes

My sweet husband went looking
around at one of our favorite antique malls.

He saw a large set of dishes with the usual
dinner plates, salad plates, cups and saucers.....

and then unusually, there were also many serving pieces!

He really liked the different farm scenes
that were on each different piece.

So he bought that 90 piece set
for his wife who he knew would
it......because she loves dishes!

If my wonderful Dad was still with us, I could
hear him saying
"Tammy girl, you need another set of dishes like
you need a hole in your head!"

Well Dad, these new pieces of ironstone will find
a good home with me!

Take a look, Glitterinas,

Sweet husband was so proud of himself!

He should be......I know that we'll enjoy this set of
dishes at

regular, everyday lunches...

special, get together dinners....

Thanksgiving dinners.....

and week night dinners!

These pieces will go with other dishes
I have and will help me set
lovely tables.

Look at that stack of ash trays!
We won't be using those as they were originally intended.....
they'll make nice little candle plates, drink coasters, bone plates,
candy dishes, etc.

The backs of the dinner plates are stamped with
Memory Lane, ironstone, 1965.

These extra large plates are service plates.
One doesn't eat from them but they sure look
nice at each place setting on a table set for a meal.

The gravy boat is one of my favorite pieces.

I decided to wash several of these
new to me dishes and use them at dinner.

They did set a pretty table.....

....what do you think, Glitterinas?

How cute are these salt and pepper shakers?

I found all of these lovely dishes
a place to live.....

.....the linens that were here ......

have been re-located
to a shelf in the linen closet....

......done and done!

I am so glad you stopped by
Pink Glitter
today, Glitterinas!

Thank you so much for looking through
my pictures and reading my thoughts
about new to me dishes!

I think I need to give sweet husband another hug!

Hugs and dishes,

A New Look For the Dining Room Table

Hello, Glitterinas!

I'm so glad you stopped by
Pink Glitter

I was ready for a new look on the
dining room table.

I started with an old, lacey, white
table cloth....

......and then topped that with one of my
vintage cotton table cloths.

The green cloth is so pretty, I think.

In the center of the table, I used a mirror in an old
wooden frame.

My dear friend, Mary Jane, gifted me with this
wonderful mirror several years ago.

On it, I arranged a pair of tall, white candlesticks
some mercury glass pieces.

I also sprinkled some linen pieces
 around...., what do you think,

Does this conglomeration of pretties work?

Does it have enough variety?

Is it interesting enough?

Let me know what you think, please!

I enjoy it when you leave me a note
about what I've shared....thanks, Glitterinas!

It's very hot here so I am really thankful for our
air conditioner.....if it's hot where you are,
stay cool and drink lots of water!

Cheers for pretty tables!

It's a Picket Fence!

I bought a piece of old, chippy
picket fence at an antique store many years ago.

The friend I was shopping with thought I had
finally gone completely off the rails!

Where on Earth are you going to put that?!

Oh, you just wait and see......

Have you ever had a conversation like that with
a shopping buddy, Glitterinas?

All these years later, I still love that piece
of chippy ol' fence.

When we first moved into the house where
we live now, my old picket fence lived
on the screen porch.

I decided to move it inside to the
living room.....I dusted it off and brought it in.... stood in the kitchen while I decided exactly
where  it wanted to live in the living room.

Did it want to live by the front windows?

Or by the fireplace...

Or by the couch....

Well, I finally decided to put it in front of the

My decorator in training helped me
decorate the little picket fence with a
wreath, a tall candlestick, a big sign, a small heart,
and a faux plant behind the fence.

I liked it.

When it was time to take her picture by the
fence she had helped decorate......

little brother came over and wanted in the
picture, too!

Little brother had his Incredible Hulk
with him.....

.....he told me the pickets look like a place where the Hulk would live.
Hulk would squeeze through when it was time
to save someone.....I got a demonstration, complete with
sound effects and lots of arm flexing!

Hmmmmm, did I really want something decorating my
living room that looked like a place where
Hulk would live??!!

I decided that I did not!

I started looking for the next resting place of my
little, chippy fence.

Would I put it back out on the screened

It did look cute out there.....

....with the grapevine chair and table,

......with the Texas flag table,

....and the barn wood bench.

Hmmmmm, decisions, decisions.....

Oh wait.....

how would it look behind the library table
in front of the dining room windows?

Let's give it a try there.....

....yes, this might look good!

I wonder what super hero would want to live
in my dining room by the windows?

None of them, I hope!!

Here's another shot.....

......I think I like it here.

It adds just a small touch of chippy texture to the
dining room!

What do you think, Glitterinas?

Thank you so much for stopping by
Pink Glitter
and letting me share some
decorating ideas with you.

Now, if you'll excuse me,
I have to find Wonder Woman.

I have a question for her!

Until next time,
