I am "Fall"ing for Blue!

Hello Glitterinas!

I am glad you are joining me today.  I have a table cloth story for you.....

I collect vintage table cloths.

My favorites have flowers, fruit or designs in pink and other soft pastels on them.

I have some that belonged to my Mom, some from my Grandmother, some from Husband's Grandmother .....I am  even lucky enough to have been given some!

The others in my collection have been purchased.....I do enjoy a good shopping trip to my favorite antique stores!

On one such shopping excursion, I found this lovely table cloth.....

I liked it because it didn't look like any other table cloth I had.....it had lovely fall colors of gold and brown.....

.....and a color I do not use often, blue!

I brought it home, washed it, folded it and put it away.  You know how it goes, out of sight - out of mind!

Then one day I bought some of the blue vintage anniversary Mason jars.....I was so excited to find them!  I bought some for me and some for my sister-in-law who cans all kinds of yummy things and SHARES!

I knew my jars would be used for decorating but Janet's would be used for their intended purpose of storing yummy goodness made by a talented canner!

I decided I wanted to use mine on the dining room table.

So, I began shopping around the house for things to add to the table that looked good with the blue jars......candlesticks, trays, a meager little pile....

Then I remembered the table cloth with blue in the pattern.....wahoooooo for blue!

Out it came and since it was smaller than the table, I layered it with another fall table cloth that has a pretty design of fall leaves on it!

There are some times during the year I like to put several of the leaves in the table so we'll have plenty of room.....Thanksgiving, Christmas, and one of my very favorites....Bunco!

....back to decorating the table.....

I started arranging....

and moving....and stacking.....

and standing back and tilting my head.....

The Mason jars needed something.... I got out some vintage tin molds and popped the round ones on top of some of the jars.  Hmmmm, yes, I liked it!

I also put some battery tea lights in the molds.  These look very cute at night.

I scattered some other shaped molds around the table and put some leaf confetti in them.  I was liking the look!

Some vintage books were added for a little height.....and there's my little bluebird of happiness!

The little fall ladies that I bought at the grocery store one year found their way to the table.....

Candlesticks that I had shabby chic'ed and two old spools were thrown in to add some interest.....

Lastly, I decided to fill my large hurricane glass with the rest of the blue Mason jars and set it on a couple of platters I had placed in the middle of the table.

Here's the table cloth with all the goodies on it......

I like how it turned out!  What do you think it needs?

Thanks for letting me share my table cloth story with you!

Have you found a new color to love this season?

Please join me again,
Tammy

I spy with my little eye.....

......pumpkins and scarecrows!

Hello Glitterinas!

I am so glad you are here.  Thank you for stopping in to check on things here at Pink Glitter!

Let's take a stroll around the house to see how the pumpkins and scarecrows look!  They have been waiting since last year to join the decor.....

I am so glad it's time to bring them back out!

Let's walk through more of the house and look at all the seasonal fun!

I think I want a cup of coffee, would you like some?

I enjoy moving things around.....if I complete a seasonal project, sometimes I have to move things around to find just the right place for it to live.  Do you do that, too?

I painted and decoupaged this little table.....I found some paper napkins with a pattern I liked so I cut them up and used them to re-do this little round table.

The package of napkins had about 50 in it, so I still have a few left.....hmmmm, wonder what I can do with them?

Let's continue our stroll......

Look at those cute little smiles......

This is one of my favorite pictures of our daughters trick or treating!  Mother made these costumes for the girls.

This picture was taken about 20 years ago.  That seems unreal.....

These three candles were fun to make.....recognize the pattern?  I'll do a quick tutorial soon on how to make these....they are quick and easy....and turn out cute!

Would you like a fruity sucker to enjoy while we finish our tour?  There's tooberry blueberry, sour apple tart, very very cherry, and the always popular razzmatazz berry!  The grands always check out the treats as soon as they arrive at Gigi's house.....

I am so glad you joined me for a stroll through our home.

We could sit and talk about what needs to be moved around......or talk about any projects you are working on.....or have another cuppa.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I am glad you joined me here at Pink Glitter.

Looking forward to our next visit.....

Tammy

Fluff the Fireplace....here comes the pumpkins and scarecrows!

Hello Glitterinas!

Welcome to Pink Glitter....I am ready to decorate for Fall, are you?

I am moving some things around and cleaning....and moving a few more things and dusting....and then finding one more thing to move, constantly mumbling now where does this want to live?

I think the fireplace and mantel are finally ready......

Our mantel is one gigantic piece of cedar.  The tree was cut down here on the land where our house was built in 1930.  The mantel and the fireplace are original to the house.

Ready with some spaces to tuck in some pumpkins....dried corn.....another candle.....a scarecrow or two.....

Can you see some spaces?

I know that I have lots of "things"....but I really like my "things" and I do put some stuff away when I change seasons.

This is where my husband would laugh and say "for every container that goes out to the store room, two come in!"  Hmmmm, he could be right.....but you won't hear it from me!

Oh, here they are.....ready to come inside and look cute.....

Now the fun begins!

I will share some more snaps when there are fun, Fall things looking cute in the house!

It's football time......whooooop!

Hello Glitterinas!

I am so glad you stopped by to see what's shakin' at Pink Glitter.

Do you watch football?  High school, college, professional....

Are you a football fan who watches all the games and can't wait for the next game to start....or do you have one team that you love, love and pour all your spirit out on them?

At the Pink Glitter house we have one team and all the love flows to them!  It's our college team....the Aggies of Texas A&M University.

OK.....I understand that I probably just lost some readers....that's OK, I know, I know.....but you should love your college and support your college with your time, energy, money and love.....and don't forget the t-shirts and bumper stickers!

We are enjoying the start of fall football at our house.  Win, lose, or tie, we love our Aggies!

Dinner before the first football game of the season was at this table.....

Some of the table setting pieces I use over and over and some are disposable.....the smaller maroon plates are disposable and so are the smaller cups.

I "won" the Aggie table setting items at a fund raiser several years ago....the Aggie table was, of course, our favorite so I had to bid on it..... the other bidders dropped away until I was the last one bidding!  Yay!  The money was being raised for a good cause so that made it even better!

Let me show you some close ups of the table....

Did you see the little dog?  That's Miss Reveille.  She's our mascot......and I got to have my picture taken with the real Reveille at a party!  She is so sweet to sit and have her picture taken.....I hope she knows just how much people love her!

She also came to our house for a pool party..... lots of snaps that day, too!

Thanks for letting me show off Miss Reveille!

Back to our pre-game dinner.....

Dinner was simple....meatballs, broccoli, wild rice and fresh fruit, iced tea and water.  We ate dinner and then enjoyed the game.

I get a little excited yelling for the Aggies....our dogs generally leave the room.  They think I get way too involved in the game!  I don't apologize, though, I love my Aggies!

During the game, I sometimes enjoy this....

....which I open with my Aggie bottle opener!  I won it at "Aggie Bash".....a party we attend each summer.

The bottle opener plays the Aggie War Hymn when used.

Did you just roll your eyes?!

People frequently do when I share that little bit of info!

Oh well, whether you are a rabid football fan or a calm one, like my sweet husband, I wish you a wonderful fall football season!

If you have a loved one who plays, I pray for their safety!

If you are not an Aggie, thanks for sticking with me through lots and lots of maroon!

If you are an Aggie.....join me......whooooop!

Thank you again for stopping by....if you are not a follower of Pink Glitter please consider joining me!

A Simple Cilantro Sauce.....yum!

Hello Glitterinas!

Dinner time comes around every day, doesn't it?

Some days I look forward to preparing dinner and some days not so much.....

I recently went into the kitchen with an idea for a meal that I was definitely looking forward to preparing.....as it turned out, it was fun and simple to make, looked so nice plated up and, most importantly, was yummmmmy!

Let me share....

I roasted two Cornish game hens.  Nothing new or very exciting about that..... I had an idea for  something new, though..... a cilantro sauce to serve over the game hens.

I started by chopping up a bunch of cilantro.....medium chop.....

I chopped the stems off and put them in the bowl of kitchen scraps for my chickens.  They enjoy a little cilantro, too!

Place about two thirds of the chopped cilantro in a small mixing bowl.  Add one third cup of mayo...I use real mayo....add two tablespoons of ranch dressing and salt and pepper to taste.  Chop a bit of onion....I used white onion....add two tablespoons of the chopped onion to the cilantro mixture.  Stir, stir, stir!

Place the mixed sauce into a small, serving container.

Dinner was almost ready and I wanted the sauce to be room temperature, so it was ready for the table.  If you make this up and aren't ready to serve it, pop it into the refrigerator and then take it out to come to room temp. before serving it.

Now, doesn't that look pretty on the table?

When the timer finally buzzed and the game hens were ready, I plated them with brown rice and green beans.  I spooned some cilantro sauce on each bird and sprinkled some of the chopped cilantro over the plates.

The kitchen smelled so good....husband was hovering by the table ready to eat as soon as the plates hit the table.  He was so sweet and patient as I snapped a couple of pics.....he just stood by his chair and smiled and asked "Did you get a good picture of our dinner?"  He is such a great guy....I am blessed!

Nothing fancy about this meal....but it sure was yummy!  We decided this cilantro sauce recipe was certainly a keeper.  Fresh cilantro is one of husband's favorite herbs.  I am glad this sauce turned out to be a delicious topper for our game hens.

There was a bit leftover, so.....

It was spooned over the leftover rice and chopped cilantro that went into a container for a midnight snack!  Husband said it was very good over rice!  Yay!

I hope you'll try this simple and yummy sauce....what do you think it would be good served with?

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing dinner with us!

Please come back and check out what's going on here at Pink Glitter!
