Eat Your Black Eyed Peas!

Happy New Year, Glitterinas!

Do you and your family eat anything special for prosperity in the new year?

My family has always eaten black eyed/purple hull peas.....I grew up eating them on the first day of a new year....my girls ate them every year....now, it's just husband and I but we still eat our peas!

There are certain foods we like to eat with our peas each year.....and that's what I'd like to share with you today.

I am so glad you stopped by for a quick visit....thank you!

First, I will fry some okra.

Cut it up, dredge it in corn meal.....
then everyone in the pool, I mean, skillet!

Set the timer......

While the okra is frying, I'll make some cornbread muffins.

Didn't they come out beautifully......sigh, cringe.....

Oh well, bet they still taste good.....my family has eaten many, many things
I've prepared that have been rated

"Looks - 2"
and
"Taste -10"

Okra is ready......

Heat up the peas....and add some salt, pepper, and a little chopped onion....

Tah Dah.....lunch is served!

Simple and delish.

I like all of these piled in the same bowl.....maybe with a little spoonful of something spicy on top....with a nice glass of tea.

Here's to a wonderful and prosperous year for all of us!

Let's Have Lunch!

Hello Glitterinas!

We recently had a get together with some family from the southern part of our Lone Star state.

They drove up for lunch and a visit on a chilly day.....

and it was so good to see them!

Papaw decided to let the chicken place in town do the cooking.....

We even used paper plates....plastic forks and cups.....

So we had a good lunch with easy and fast clean up!

Yay!

We spent the day visiting, telling stories, being silly, and laughing.

Our group was mostly adults and some high school aged kids....

with one little guy.

He is such a cutie!

He enjoyed feeding and petting the chickens.....

Talking to the pigs.....

Little Mr. W is two years old.....he tried and tried to OINK....

it's harder than you think!

I think he liked our sweet barn cat, Miss Olympia, the best!

He liked the box of toys Papaw had, too!

After hugs all around, it was time for our travelers to get on the road....

We had a full day....and we're looking forward to Easter when we'll gather again!

As fast as time passes, it will be time for new Easter dresses and shirts and ties for church, baskets of chocolate bunnies and hunting for pretty eggs before we know it!

I hope you are enjoying these days as one year transitions to the next....

and I hope you have gotten to spend time with family and friends that make you happy!

Thank you so much for stopping by Pink Glitter today!

Until next time,
Tammy

Happy New Year!

Happy 2014, Glitterinas!

Are you planning a big New Year's bash to ring in 2014?

We usually stay home, watch a movie, eat snacky foods for dinner and then after a kiss goodnight we tell each other "See you next year!" and go to sleep!

I do like to have a touch of Happy New Year decorations around the house.....usually it's a little something hanging by the fireplace and a touch in the kitchen.

This is what I made this year.....

A banner of vintage post cards with a crepe paper rosette on each one.

I like the variety of images wishing everyone a safe, happy, healthy, fun or festive New Year!

I started out with the post cards.....

then added a crepe paper rosette with dot runner adhesive....and a small, paper circle punched from an old almanac page.

I think they turned out cute.

What do you think?

All hung in a row by the fireplace.....

I wanted to use a couple of the cards in a photo holder in the kitchen.

So I chose one with snow and one with champagne bubbles to glitter.....I love glitter!

These cute graphics are wishing you a Happy New Year, too!

I like the way they turned out.....

I want to wish each of you a sparkly New Year.

I hope it's a wonderful year full of love and all things fulfilling and wonderful!

Thank you so much for spending a little time with me today.

I'd love to hear all about your New Year's plans, so leave me a quick comment.

Until next time,
Tammy

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, Glitterinas!

It's Christmas Eve and I am getting excited about the big day.

I've had my coffee.....

....and my toast.

While I was looking at the twinkly lights on the table and on our tree

I was thinking about all the wonderful things

the Lord pours out over me every day!

I am so blessed.....

I know I join so many who pray for :

peace for those whose world has become full of chaos and violence.

love for those who need a friend.

calm for those who are filled with anxiety.

strength for those who are fighting a battle.

and

joy for every one of God's children!

Merry Christmas to you,
Tammy

Happy Graduation, Ashley!

Hello Glitterinas!

Please join our Pink Glitter family in a round of applause......

Our youngest daughter graduated with her Master's Degree.

We are so proud of her.....and she is proud to be finished!

We made a quick trip to Fort Worth for the ceremony.

The chapel where the commencement ceremony was held is a large, beautiful building.

The foyer is very spacious.....

There are also lovely corners where you can sit and have a quiet moment.

Here's the graduate.....

.....with her proud parents.....

......and her crazy, best friend, Shylo.....

I love those two girls!

Congratulations again, Ashley!

I am glad you finished your Master's Degree and
I am glad you have a good job!

Counting my blessings.....

Tammy

I Love Christmastime!

Merry Christmas, Glitterinas!

The lights are twinkling on our Christmas tree.

The presents are waiting to be unwrapped.

The little snowflake lights on our dining room table are shining brightly.

The sparkling ornaments on our small tree look so pretty.

The much loved stockings are waiting to be filled.

The angel music box plays "Joy to The World".

The scented candles make the house smell so good.

I am ready for the house to fill up.

I am ready for holiday laughter.

I am ready to see what Santa will bring.

I am ready to serve a yummy, traditional Christmas dinner.

I am ready to take lots and lots of pictures.

I am ready to count my blessings.

I love this time of year!

Blessings to you, my wonderful Glitterina friends!

Tammy
